Squad Car
WELD COUNTY, CO — Tanner Brownlee was 15 years old in 2010 when his father, Deputy Sam Brownlee, was killed in the line of duty. Five years later, Tanner raised $3,000 to purchase his father’s service car at auction. But he was outbid by a longshot. The Dodge Charger, valued at $12,500, sold to rancher Steve Wells for $60,000.
Here’s what happened next.
When Wells was asked why he wanted to buy the cruiser for the boy, he told CBS 4, “It never crossed my mind not to. I wanted to hand the keys to that young man.”
