Racist trolls took a break from presidential politics to throw some hate at Old Navy for tweeting out this ad. It features a family that has the gall to be not only interracial but happy, too. Company spokeswoman Debbie Felix told AdWeek, “We are a brand with a proud history of championing diversity and inclusion. At Old Navy, everyone is welcome.”
7-11 has committed to using only cage-free eggs by 2025. Consumer-driven demand for the more humane treatment of chickens has led other chains including Starbucks, McDonald’s, Panera and Chick-fil-A to insist suppliers adhere to a similar standard. Mind you, it’s the chickens and not the eggs that are cage-free. The eggs are pretty much stuck there in the fridge.
Arrow Electronics built a mobile classroom called the DigiTruck to reach children in remote sub-Saharan African villages who can’t read or write. Working with the nonprofits Close The Gap and Hoops of Hope, Arrow currently has the solar-powered, heat-protected truck parked at an orphanage in Tanzania, where they’re helping some 80 kids cross the digital divide. Laptops, printers and other tech will be left with the orphanage when the DigiTruck moves on to the next location. The project earned Arrow top honors in the Corporate Social Responsibility category at the PR Week 360 Global Awards this week in London.
That’s CBG for this week. Go be nice to someone.
